Barry James Henry, MD




As a native of South Louisiana, Dr. Henry came back to his home state to specialize and care for families in the areas of sports, hand, and general orthopaedic surgical injuries. He is knowledgeable about athletic and work demands which lead to musculoskeletal problems. Over the past 19 years, he and his staff have remained passionate about helping patients recover from orthopaedic injuries so they can return to their normal activities.

Dr. Henry holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and received the majority of his undergraduate study hours at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1995, then went onto Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas completing his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Henry is Board Certified as an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine sub-specialty surgeon, a Certified Exercise Physiologist, and a Certified Commercial Pilot which provides him the experience to treat and understand athletes and workers on many levels. Professionally, he is veteran of the US Air Force and an active Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc. He is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Tech Orthopaedic Alumni Association, and the Louisiana State Medical Society.
